Softball Recap: Woodlan Triumphs

Woodlan barely beat Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors put the hurt on the Cadets with a sharp 11-3 victory on Friday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Cadets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Kaycie Reed made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Reed was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other pitching news, Sophia Martin looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Scarlett Gillingham and Victoria Crozier did most of the damage at the plate: Gillingham went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Crozier went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Gillingham has posted since back in April of 2025. Ellce Krauter was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Woodlan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Woodlan's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Woodlan will head out to take on Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Saints have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran, they will be playing at home against Leo at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
