Baseball Recap: Fremont Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

Fremont had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Eastside on Saturday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Blazers with a sharp 13-5 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Cayden Hufnagle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other pitching news, Alex King looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Colten Guthrie, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last ten contests. Caiden Grimm also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Fremont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Fremont is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Eastside, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-5.

Coming up, Fremont will look to defend their home field on Monday against Hillsdale at 5:30 p.m. As for Eastside, they will head out on the road to square off against Edgerton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
