The Carolina Forest Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 55-31 margin over Waccamaw. Given Carolina Forest's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Waccamaw is ranked 166th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Carolina Forest to victory were Miracle McLean and Emerie Davis. McLean dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Davis scored 24 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least 25% of Carolina Forest's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Hoffman, who scored two points along with six assists and six steals.
Carolina Forest pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Waccamaw, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carolina Forest will square off against Loris at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Loris focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. Waccamaw won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Oceanside Collegiate Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd.
