The Austin-East Roadrunners were the 39-32 winner over the Knoxville Central Bobcats when they last played one another back in November of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. Austin-East fell 60-49 to Knoxville Central on Monday.
Despite the loss, Austin-East had strong showings from Ja'onna Witt, who scored 18 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals, and Tymirrianna Brown, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds and 7 steals. Witt scored a full 36.7% of Austin-East's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Keiara Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals.
Austin-East's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Knoxville Central, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing West the next time they take the court. Knoxville Central will host West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Austin-East will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
