Baseball Recap: Lincoln Southeast's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Lincoln Southeast had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 9-16 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Bellevue East Chieftains with a sharp 13-4 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Drayson Orr looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Lincoln Southeast's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 6-16 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jon Moeller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Brooks Gordon also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Lincoln Southeast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bellevue East only posted an OBP of .323.

As for Bellevue East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-18 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured eight losses in a row.

On Bellevue East's side, Brody Graham made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Jace Taggart was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln Southeast will challenge Lincoln High at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Links have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.3 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bellevue East, they will square off against Burke at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
