1A North Star (8 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012
Levi Lemieux of Wallace ran for the longest rushing play in 1A North Star (8 Man) this season against Clark Fork last week. Lemieux's team beat the Wampus Cats as he sprinted for 71 yards on the play and finished with 401 in all.
Kootenai was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. The Warriors defeated Mullan 48-0 earlier in the week.
Wallace's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jacob Berman threw for 115 yards and Brock Arthun had 93 yards receiving. Gavin Rasmussen helped Wallace's passing attack out by catching one ball for 22 yards.
Rasmussen made the biggest impact on defense this week as Dave Rounds's team topped Clark Fork. The 6-foot-0 junior pulled down one interception and recorded one fumble.
Wallace's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Miners feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Berman has thrown for 374 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Arthun has seven catches for 250 yards. Rasmussen leads the league in rushing with 557 yards.
Two of the top units in 1A North Star (8 Man) will face off this week when the Miners take on the Tigers. Wallace's offense has recorded 192 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Mullan has permitted only 228 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Miners take on Corey Miller's team. Wallace is in first place, while the Tigers are in fourth place.
