Unity Christian is 0-5 against Model since December of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Unity Christian Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Model Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. Unity Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 358th, while Model is ranked 72nd).
Unity Christian put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Praise Academy 63-19 on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-9.
Unity Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabriela Creel, who scored ten points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Creel has scored all season. Andrea Creel was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Model didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Rockmart on Friday, but they still walked away with a 53-49 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Model.
Unity Christian now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Model, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Unity Christian might still be hurting after the 51-28 defeat they got from Model in their previous matchup back in February of 2022. Can Unity Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
