Baseball Recap: Gilbert's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Gilbert's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They never let the Mesa Jackrabbits get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. Considering the Tigers have won six games by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Cannon Anderson looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gilbert let Thatcher Johnson and Jacinto Espinoza III run wild. Johnson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Espinoza III got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI Johnson has posted since back in February. Cameron Foegal was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Gilbert hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

With the victory, Gilbert broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-8. As for Mesa, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Looking ahead, Gilbert will take on Williams Field at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
