Nelsonville-York might have lost, but man, Airah Lavy was a machine: she scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Lavy has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalina Hernandez, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Federal Hocking can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Trimble with a sharp 50-30 victory. Given Federal Hocking's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Trimble is ranked 603rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nelsonville-York has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for Federal Hocking, their victory bumped their record up to 15-6.
Nelsonville-York might still be hurting after the 73-51 loss they got from Federal Hocking in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Nelsonville-York was down 42-16.
