Charlotte Latin gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Charlotte Christian Knights. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won nine matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Sydney Thune made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Lila McConnell was excellent, going 2-for-5 with four RBI. Irie King was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Charlotte Latin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Charlotte Christian only managed four hits.
