Berea-Midpark and Steele are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Berea-Midpark Titans will head out on the road to take on the Steele Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Berea-Midpark's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
Berea-Midpark pushed their score all the way to 81 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 87-81 hit to the loss column at the hands of Avon Lake. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Berea-Midpark came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Avon Lake is ranked 274th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nick Reece, who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Masyn Zahursky, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Steele's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 72-42 to Midview, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Steele was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-15.
Berea-Midpark's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3. As for Steele, they dropped their record down to 5-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Berea-Midpark took their victory against Steele in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 79-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Berea-Midpark since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
