After flying high against the Roosevelt Roughriders last Friday, the Frederick Golden Eagles came back down to earth. Frederick fell 79-67 to Riverdale Ridge on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Frederick can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Riverdale Ridge is ranked 30th).
When it comes to explaining why Frederick lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ian Buffington. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points. The game was Buffington's third in a row with at least ten points. Caden Martin was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Kameren Davis was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds for Riverdale Ridge. Davis has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus D mcfadden, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Frederick now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Riverdale Ridge, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frederick will challenge Niwot at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Niwot is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Riverdale Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Mountain View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
