Powhatan is 2-7 against Cosby since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Indians are taking a road trip to face off against the Titans at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Powhatan came out on top against Monacan on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Indians put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 9-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Chiefs: they've now won five in a row.
Brooklyn Narbut spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aaliyah Myers, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Cassidy Moser also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cosby). They never let L.C. Bird get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Lex Throckmorton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Throckmorton was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cosby got a massive performance out of Jill Bossler, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Aislin Bossler was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one double.
Powhatan's record now sits at 6-4. As for Cosby, their record is now 4-2.
Powhatan might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Cosby when the teams last played back in March. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
