Basketball Recap: Wickenburg Christian Academy's Loss Ends Ten-Game Winning Streak at Home

Wickenburg Christian Academy entered their game against Tri-City Christian Academy on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wickenburg Christian Academy Lion lost 70-47 to the Tri-City Christian Academy Warriors. The match was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Lion struggled afterwards.

When it comes to explaining why Wickenburg Christian Academy lost, don't look at Tate Poppe. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. Poppe has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Calden Dickinson, who posted six points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Wickenburg Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Tri-City Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Fulvio Dos Santos, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Dos Santos has scored at least a third of Tri-City Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trisdan Moreland, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 15 points and four steals.

Wickenburg Christian Academy's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-2. As for Tri-City Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-6.

Wickenburg Christian Academy has already played their next game, a 72-24 win against Brighton Charter on the 17th. As for Tri-City Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-59 victory against Learning Foundation & Performing Arts on the 16th.
