This season hasn't been kind to the Southwestern Sabers, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They were beaten by Indian Creek 83-24 on Saturday. Southwestern was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-12.
It was another big night for Aiden Evans, who scored 29 points for Indian Creek. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Evans has scored at least 25% of Indian Creek's points. Another player making a difference was Kyle Harvin, who scored 16 points.
Southwestern bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.0 points per game. As for Indian Creek, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwestern will square off against Carver Vo-Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Carver Vo-Tech knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully Southwestern likes a good challenge. Indian Creek's road trip will continue as they head out to face Archbishop Curley at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Archbishop Curley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
