The Pittsfield Generals are taking a road trip to take on the Longmeadow Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Pittsfield has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Longmeadow will arrive with three straight wins.
On Monday, Pittsfield came up short against Lenox Memorial and fell 5-1.
Mia Dejesus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Pittsfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paxton Ebling, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Ava McMahon also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Longmeadow came out on top against Holyoke on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run seventh inning. The Lancers blew past the Purple Knights 14-2. 14 seems to be a good number for the Lancers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Longmeadow also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Livia Kelly gave up two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Sophia Winstel was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Isabella Blue was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Longmeadow was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Longmeadow's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Pittsfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Everything went Pittsfield's way against Longmeadow in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Pittsfield made off with a 17-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Generals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
