The McDermitt Bulldogs's 19-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Saturday. They walked away with a 52-40 victory over Non Varsity Tournament Opponent. McDermitt's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
McDermitt found their leader in underclassman Shandon Camas, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Camas has scored at least 25% of McDermitt's points. Josh Northrup was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
McDermitt's win ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-5. As for Non Varsity Tournament Opponent, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost 21 of their last 28 matches, which is still a better percentage than their 44-134 record this season.
McDermitt will head out on the road to face off against Pyramid Lake at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Pyramid Lake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday. Non Varsity Tournament Opponent's road trip will continue as they head out to face Charlotte at 9:00 a.m. on December 16th. Charlotte has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7.
