Mountain Vista has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Regis Jesuit Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mountain Vista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Last Friday, Mountain Vista faced Chaparral in a battle between two of the state's top teams. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Mountain Vista made off with a 69-68 victory over Chaparral. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wes Baskind, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Jacob Hoefs was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six assists and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Regis Jesuit fought the good fight in their overtime game against Rock Canyon on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 87-84. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Mountain Vista's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Regis Jesuit, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Mountain Vista was able to grind out a solid win over Regis Jesuit in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 68-56. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Regis Jesuit's Cole Records, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Mountain Vista to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
