The Buena Colts pushed their score all the way to 66 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brophy College Prep. While losing is never fun, Buena can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Brophy College Prep is ranked 11th).
Several Colts players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julian Aguilar, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Aguilar continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jamin Booker was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Buena's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Brophy College Prep, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Buena will head out on the road to take on Nogales at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Nogales focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Brophy College Prep, Brophy College Prep and Chandler will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Chandler is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
