After a string of nine wins, the Dysart Demons's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to Willow Canyon 73-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the defeat, Dysart had strong showings from Nigel Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Lamar Anderson, who scored 12 points along with five assists. Anderson scored a full 29% of Dysart's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Easton Carleton, who scored eight points.
Leading Willow Canyon to victory were Kaleel Kelly and Braylon Haman. Kelly dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds, while Haman scored 27 points along with four steals. The matchup was Haman's 15th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Maxwell, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Dysart's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Willow Canyon, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
Dysart won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mica Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Mica Mountain is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Willow Canyon won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Desert Edge at 5:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Desert Edge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Willow Canyon likes a good challenge.
