It was another big night for Tamia Darden, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. The game was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Utley, who scored 13 points.
Despite the loss, Garner had strong showings from Olivia Jacobs, who scored 14 points along with three blocks, and Sumayah Jones, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and three steals. Jacobs scored a full 45.2% of Garner's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The victory was the third in a row for South Garner, bringing their record for this year to 5-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29 points. As for Garner, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Garner will face off against Clayton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clayton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 488th, while South Garner is ranked 45th). Garner will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Willow Spring at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th. The timing is sure in Willow Spring's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Garner has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
