San Augustine has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Shelbyville Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
San Augustine was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Joaquin 49-48.
Tymorian Cartwright went supernova for San Augustine, rushing for 214 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry, and also throwing for 264 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes. Cartwright's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. Jayden "Stooka" Clifton was another key contributor, picking up 132 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Shelbyville took their contest at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 64-36 victory over Grapeland. The result was nothing new for Shelbyville, who have now won four games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Shelbyville's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Franny Buckley, who rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, and Dj Barnes, who rushed for 193 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry.
Their wins bumped San Augustine to 3-4 and Shelbyville to 4-2.
San Augustine came up short against Shelbyville in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 57-44. Will San Augustine have more luck at home instead of on the road?
