Baseball Recap: Desert View Extends Winning Streak to Three

Desert View won against Sahuaro last Tuesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Desert View Jaguars walked away with a 13-9 victory over the Rio Rico Hawks. Winning may never get old, but the Jaguars sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Desert View let Yadier Acu?a and Miguel Siqueiros run wild. Acu?a went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base, while Siqueiros went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave Acu?a a new career-high in RBI. Joshua Valenzuela was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Desert View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Desert View pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Rio Rico, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Desert View will take on Salpointe Catholic in a tournament on Thursday. As for Rio Rico, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Ironwood Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Ironwood Ridge will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
