The Eastwood Christian Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Oaks The Mighty Oaks at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Eastwood Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 351st, while Oaks is ranked 96th).
Eastwood Christian can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 57-46 win over Russell Christian Academy. The victory was just what Eastwood Christian needed coming off of a 55-30 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Oaks' good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 57-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Victory Christian Academy. The game was a 31-31 toss-up at halftime, but Oaks was outscored by Victory Christian Academy in the second.
Despite their loss, Oaks saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Joey Allen, who scored 27 points, was perhaps the best of all. Allen scored a full 50.9% of Oaks' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elisha Hallmark, who scored 16 points.
Eastwood Christian's victory bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Oaks, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-2.
Eastwood Christian might still be hurting after the 63-43 defeat they got from Oaks when the teams last played back in November. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Oaks' Allen, who scored 25 points. Now that Eastwood Christian knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
