Basketball Recap: Mount Academy Skates Past Pine Plains with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mount Academy). They really took it to the Pine Plains Bombers for the full four quarters, racking up a 106-48 victory. The win was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on five straight.

Mount Academy's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Donovan Baird, who went 14 of 20 on his way to 31 points and six assists. Baird has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dennis Hofer, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards.

Mount Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Mount Academy's record now sits at 6-1. As for Pine Plains, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Mount Academy Eagles take on the Rhinebeck Hawks at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Mount Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 78.4 points per game this season. As for Pine Plains, they will take on Spackenkill at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
