Baseball Game Preview: Gorton Wolves vs. Poughkeepsie Pioneers

The Gorton Wolves will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Poughkeepsie Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Gorton is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Yonkers Montessori Academy. The Wolves were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Eagles on Wednesday. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Abdiel Almanzar made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
