The Berkner Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Pearce Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berkner will be strutting in after a win while Pearce will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with 11 losses in a row, Berkner turned things around against Lake Highlands on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Wildcats as they made off with a 13-7 victory. The Rams not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 14th.
Maehle Lawerence was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. Lawerence was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Berkner got a massive performance out of Jasmyne Bell, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs Bell has posted since back in February. Heidi Shehan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Berkner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Highlands only posted an OBP of .472.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Pearce was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They lost 8-1 to Richardson.
Pearce has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12-1 record this season. Berkner's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-14.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Berkner hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. However, it's not like Pearce struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Berkner suffered a grim 19-7 defeat to Pearce when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Berkner avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
