Last Thursday, TERRA Environmental was able to grind out a solid win over Southwest, taking the game 51-44.
TERRA Environmental's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nick Merlo, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. Merlo continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mateo Baron, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points and four steals.
Meanwhile, Northwestern put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 63-55 victory over Boyd Anderson.
Northwestern found their leader in sophomore Zacuras Dawson, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Navarrete, who posted 13 points.
Northwestern smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.
Northwestern's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for TERRA Environmental, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. TERRA Environmental hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 60.2 points per game. However, it's not like Northwestern struggles in that department as they've been averaging 74.7 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
