Tuckahoe extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-4. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Briarcliff Bears. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 10-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.
Tuckahoe got a good showing from Kyle Carney, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Jay Romeo was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
As for Briarcliff, the win got them back to even at 3-3-1. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
On Briarcliff's side, Max Amador was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Amador a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Briarcliff gave Mike Hegarty the start and clearly made the right call: he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Lucas Martinez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Briarcliff is 2-1 when Martinez posts two or more runs, but 1-2-1 otherwise. Tyler Gualtiere was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Tuckahoe wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 18-1 win against North Salem on the 16th. As for Briarcliff, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against Westlake on the 16th.
