North Gaston is 9-1 against Forestview since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will welcome the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
North Gaston barely beat Highland Tech the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats never let the Rams get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won eight in a row.
Jackson Livingston looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Blake Mitchell was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Mason, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Forestview made sure to put some runs up on the board against Ashbrook on Wednesday. The Jaguars blew past the Greenwave 15-5. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Jaguars' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Benjamin Denton was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Denton was also big at the plate, earning two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Forestview: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, Forestview got a massive performance out of CJ Davis, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Davis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Kelly, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
North Gaston's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Forestview, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Everything went North Gaston's way against Forestview when the teams last played back in March, as North Gaston made off with a 13-0 victory. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
