Pueblo Centennial has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Pueblo County Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pueblo County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Pueblo Centennial, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Pueblo Centennial strolled past Lincoln with points to spare, taking the game 49-34.
Pueblo Centennial got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shon West out in front who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Jacob, who scored six points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Pueblo County's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to The Classical Academy.
Dominic Mauro put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lowry Kirkland, who scored 14 points.
Pueblo Centennial now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Pueblo County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Pueblo Centennial have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 24.5 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Pueblo County, though, as they've been averaging only 28 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Pueblo Centennial lost to Pueblo County on the road by a decisive 53-38 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Pueblo Centennial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
