The Northside Indians will challenge the Harrold Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Northside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.7 runs per game this season.
Northside fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Knox City on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greyhounds. The Indians' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
J. Bustamante made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. KJ Hollenbaugh was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Harrold made sure to put some runs up on the board against Munday on Tuesday. Harrold blew past Munday 13-3. The Hornets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Mylie Maness made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Harrold let Brooklyn Willis and Marley Lairscy run wild. Willis scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances, while Lairscy scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Willis also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.
Northside's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Harrold, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Harrold's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Northside has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .580. It's a different story for Harrold, though, as they've only averaged .352. Will they be able to contain Northside's hitters?
Everything went Northside's way against Harrold when the teams last played last Tuesday, as Northside made off with a 15-5 victory. Will Northside repeat their success, or does Harrold has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
