Baseball Recap: Eagleville Sets Scoring Season-High Against Fayetteville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eagleville). They put the hurt on the Fayetteville Tigers with a sharp 17-4 victory on Wednesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by eight runs or more this season.

Marshall Spann was a standout: he scored four runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Burns, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Eagleville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in five consecutive games.

Eagleville pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Fayetteville, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eagleville will host Mt. Pleasant at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fayetteville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hampshire at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
