The Wisner-Pilger Gators lost against the Pender Pendragons last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Wisner-Pilger received a tough blow as they fell 59-44 to the Pendragons. While losing is never fun, Wisner-Pilger can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Pendragons are ranked 86th).
Pender was led to victory by Alex Roth and Aiden Beckman. Roth scored 19 points along with six rebounds, while Beckman scored 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Krueger, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Wisner-Pilger's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Pender, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.
Wisner-Pilger will head out on the road to take on the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clarkson/Leigh is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Pender, they will face off against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Oakland-Craig focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday.
