San Dieguito Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against University City as they made off with a 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
San Dieguito Academy never let University City on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-23.

San Dieguito Academy relied on the efforts of Robbie Hacker, who had five digs and three aces, and Trevor Anderson, who had 34 assists and eight digs. Anderson has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more assists the last 11 times he's played.
Meanwhile, Clairemont sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Pacific Ridge on Thursday.
Clairemont had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 15-25, 25-21, 25-15, 15-13.
Clairemont's win came from a few key players San Dieguito Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gabe Tocco, who had 18 blocks and 13 kills. Those 18 blocks gave him a new career-high. Makoa Miner was another key player, getting 24 kills and four blocks.
San Dieguito Academy's record now sits at 22-16. As for Clairemont, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-10.
San Dieguito Academy came up short against Clairemont in their previous matchup back in March, falling 2-0. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
