Meanwhile, Madison County had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Bears. Six seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Savannah McGilton and Marion Gamble dominated on the mound. McGilton tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Gamble pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. McGilton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sydney Gurley, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Livy Huter, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.
Madison County pushed their record up to 20-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lawrence County, their win bumped their record up to 29-9-1.
