The Swansboro Pirates will take on the Jacksonville Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Swansboro knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Jacksonville likes a good challenge.
On Thursday, Swansboro was able to grind out a solid win over Ashley, taking the game 10-7.

Adison Kirkpatrick made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Aurianna Ramos was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season. Payton Jensen was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Croatan, falling 8-1.
Like Swansboro, Jacksonville also got a great game from a two-way player: Lauren Weston. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Weston was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Weston wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ava Helms, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Jacksonville's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Swansboro, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Swansboro came out on top in a nail-biter against Jacksonville in their previous meeting last Tuesday, sneaking past 4-3. Will Swansboro repeat their success, or does Jacksonville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
