Basketball Recap: Encinal Wins Going Away Against Balboa

While Encinal didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Balboa Buccaneers on Monday as the Encinal Jets made off with a 74-50 win. The Jets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Several Buccaneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alan Ly, who posted 15 points and seven steals. Ly is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Donovan DeSousa, who earned eight points and nine rebounds.

Encinal has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Balboa, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-12.

Encinal will challenge Hayward at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Balboa, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 67-43 loss against Lincoln on the 7th.
