On Monday, the Rocky Hill Country Day Mariners faced the East Greenwich Avengers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Rocky Hill Country Day fell just short of East Greenwich by a score of 51-48. Rocky Hill Country Day's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Despite the loss, Rocky Hill Country Day saw an underclassman step up: Addison Mahar scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Aliona Nikulina, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Rocky Hill Country Day bumped their record down to 1-3 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for East Greenwich, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Rocky Hill Country Day is on the road again on Friday and play against Kimball Union Academy at 2:30 p.m. on December 15th. East Greenwich will be home for the holidays to greet Mount St. Charles Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mount St. Charles Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
