The Battle Mountain Longhorns will challenge the Yerington Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Yerington will be up against a hot Battle Mountain team: the squad just extended their winning streak to eight. The Longhorns were the clear victors by a 22-4 margin over Pershing County on Saturday.

Aspen Swanger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Battle Mountain got a massive performance out of Addison Matheus, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Matheus has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jazmin Johnson, who went 2-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Battle Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .567 or higher in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Yerington made easy work of Incline on Tuesday and carried off a 9-3 victory. The win was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on five straight.
Erika Landa and Casey Bobrick made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Landa didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Bobrick tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Landa got on base in three of her five plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Bobrick went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those six stolen bases gave Landa a new career-high.
In other batting news, America Hernandez was excellent, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Aubrey Conway was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Battle Mountain pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.8 runs over those games. As for Yerington, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Battle Mountain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .759. However, it's not like Yerington struggles in that department as they've averaged .527. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Battle Mountain's way against Yerington in their previous meeting back in March, as Battle Mountain made off with a 15-8 win. Do the Longhorns have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
