The Faith Christian Lions fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Gateway Panthers on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 67-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (61), Faith Christian still had to take the loss.
Faith Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaelen Spellman, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Spellman scored a full 27.4% of Faith Christian's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Salot Roundtree, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Faith Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Gateway, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.
Faith Christian will be playing at home against Burns Sci-Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gateway, they will head out on the road to face off against Tohopekaliga at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
