It was a good run, but the Frost Polar Bears unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 61-34 loss at the hands of Hamilton. Frost was down 49-27 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Frost's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brenda Manrriquez, who scored 15 points along with three steals. That was a full 44.1% of Frost's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Karlee Anderson was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Frost struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Leading Hamilton to victory were Brooklyn Bragg and Kelton Wright. Bragg dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Wright almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Bragg has been hot recently, having posted three or more blocks the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emery Parrott, who scored five points along with three steals.
Frost's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 25-6. As for Hamilton, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-9.
Frost does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hamilton, they will take on Hico at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Hamilton is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hico in Texas (Hamilton is ranked 316th, while Hico is ranked 1175th).
