Basketball Recap: Tito Fierros Key Part of Team Effort in Apaches Win

Nogales's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 76-57 victory over the Desert View Jaguars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 66-42 back in January.

Nogales' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tito Fierros, who went 8-for-14 en route to 18 points and three steals. Fierros has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Gael Martinez was another key player, going 6-for-13 on his way to 15 points.

Nogales was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They racked up seven more assists than Desert View's also-impressive total of 14.

Despite the loss, Desert View had strong showings from Luis Felix, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, and Aiden Beavers, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 13 points in addition to seven assists and six boards. The dominant performance also gave Felix a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Sebastian Gonzalez, who posted five points.

Nogales has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points over those games. As for Desert View, their defeat was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-19.

Nogales wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 73-32 loss against Buena on the 7th. As for Desert View, they have also already played their next contest, a 71-41 defeat against Cienega on the 7th.
