The Crystal City Javelinas were the 44-38 winner over the Martin Tigers when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Crystal City fell 36-24 to Martin on Friday. Crystal City just can't catch a break and has now endured four defeats in a row.
Kiara Gonzalez was the offensive standout of the matchup as she dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Melanie Hernandez, who scored 4 points along with 6 rebounds.
Crystal City's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Martin, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.
Crystal City will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Gregory-Portland at 8:00 a.m. on December 2nd. Hopefully Gregory-Portland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday. As for Martin, they will face off against Sharyland at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Sharyland has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 4.
