The Almont Raiders will square off against the Algonac Muskrats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Almont's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Algonac's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Algonac will be up against a hot Almont team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Raiders came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against St. Clair. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Raiders have posted since April 30, 2024.
Brooklyn Bunch was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Algonac was able to grind out a solid win over Yale on Tuesday, taking the game 5-2. The victory continues a trend for the Muskrats in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.
Morgan Reams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaycee Reams, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Layna Kunnath, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Almont's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Algonac, the win got them back to even at 11-11-1.
Almont couldn't quite get it done against Algonac in their previous matchup back in June of 2023 as they fell 7-3. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
