The Classical Academy Caimans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 37-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Coastal Academy. While losing is never fun, Classical Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1320th, while Coastal Academy is ranked 570th).
Despite the loss, Classical Academy still got an impressive performance from Issac Davis, who scored 19 points. The matchup was Davis' ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Lanzone, who scored seven points.
Classical Academy's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Coastal Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Classical Academy will take on Clairemont at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Clairemont knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Classical Academy likes a good challenge. As for Coastal Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against San Diego Jewish Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
