Softball Recap: North Putnam's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

North Putnam dropped their record down to 11-6 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Indian Creek Braves by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 13-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Tori Detro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, North Putnam saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Delaney Seaborne, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Ruby Young also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

As for Indian Creek, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

On Indian Creek's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Delaney Jones gave up just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Jasmine Day was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Jada Shepard was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Putnam will host Riverton Parke at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Indian Creek, they will face off against Owen Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
