On Thursday, Lehigh rang in the new year with a 51-43 win over St. Brendan.
Lehigh got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rianne Smith out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Lehigh's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Plummer, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Jaden Castro and Gianna Vindigni certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Castro scored 17 points, while Vindigni scored 15 points.
Lehigh's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for St. Brendan, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Lehigh and Naples will face off at 5:20 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Brendan won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cypress Lake at 12:20 p.m. on January 5th. Cypress Lake is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
