The Socorro Warriors will square off against the Tularosa Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games Socorro has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Saturday, Socorro had just enough and edged out Hot Springs 8-6. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Sebastian Mercado was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Jacob Angel was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Tularosa had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They blew past the Bears 13-3.
The team relied heavily on Hunter Sewell, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Tularosa is 4-2 when Sewell posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tayton Bridge, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Tularosa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Tularosa pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Socorro, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Socorro has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Tularosa struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Socorro took their victory against Tularosa when the teams last played back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
