Omaha Northwest had lost seven games straight , but after bumping their record up to 4-15 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Benson Bunnies 16-10. The Huskies' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jj Schirmer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Omaha Northwest got a massive performance out of Justyse Masters, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave Masters a new career-high. DeVon Derry was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs.
Omaha Northwest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
